About Us About us
What does your company do? What does Shinnaka (Shin-Nakamura Chemical Industry) do?
We are a chemical manufacturer and research and development company that develops, manufactures, and sells acrylic resins!
What is acrylic resin? What is acrylic resin?
It is a synthetic resin material that has greater transparency than glass, as well as high durability and weather resistance, and is used in a wide range of fields.
Acrylic resin is a synthetic resin (plastic) that combines beautiful transparency with excellent impact resistance, so much so that it is also called the “Queen of Plastics.”
It is lighter than glass, has high light transmittance, and is easy to process, making it a versatile material that can be used in a wide range of applications. It is used in numerous products as a manufacturing material in a variety of fields, from electrical and electronic components to containers, packaging, and 3D printing using UV inks, as well as textiles, automobiles, medicine, and architecture.

What can you do? What can you do at Shinnaka?
We at Shin Nakamura Chemical Industry can
provide any material that uses acrylic resin.
We can provide any material that uses acrylic resin. As an R&D-oriented manufacturer, we respond to a variety of needs with our unique technology and creativity, creating new products suited to specific applications and taking on the total responsibility of finding the optimal compounding for customers who are not familiar with chemistry.
We have mass-produced UV-curable resins and have shipped over 800 types of acrylic products to date. Shin-Nakamura Chemical Industry is able to turn customers’ vague needs, such as “I want something like this,” into reality from scratch.
What your strength? What are Shinnaka’s strengths?
We, Shin-Nakamura Chemical Industry, were the first in Japan to successfully mass-produce UV-curable resin.
R&D capabilities and unique know-how to materialize customer requests
With the mission of “providing products that society needs by solving customer problems,” we were the first in Japan to succeed in mass-producing UV-curable resin. This technological innovation has dramatically expanded the possibilities of UV. As a leading domestic manufacturer with one of the top market shares in the country, we support people’s lives in a variety of situations. Our strength lies not only in the made-to-order production of general-purpose products, but also in our research and development capabilities and unique know-how to realize customer requests by utilizing our core technologies such as “monomers,” “oligomers,” “polymers,” and “compounds.”

A flexible production system that can handle everything from mass production to small-lot production of a wide variety of products
We have multiple production bases in Japan. The Wakayama Factory handles small-lot, high-mix production, while the Fukui Factory is primarily focused on mass production of products with high demand. By dividing up the functions, we have achieved speedy production and achieved results that exceed expectations. In addition, we have newly established an “MT Plant” that is equipped with distillation equipment and ester exchange equipment for the production of high-purity products, as well as a plant for the small-lot production of fine products. By constantly reviewing our manufacturing system and making proactive capital investments, we are able to respond to the various needs of our customers quickly and with high precision.

High quality products and quality control that have been awarded the highest rank by major manufacturers
The biggest feature of our quality control is the precise evaluation method using control charts. We never make the easy decision that “it’s fine because it’s within the standard.” Rather, we carry out thorough analysis based on control charts and ship only products that meet strict conditions within ±3 sigma. We also strictly manage control charts when accepting raw materials. As a result, our strength is in providing high-quality products, such as receiving the highest ranking in customer audits by major manufacturers, including companies listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Past and Future Shinnaka’s past and future
Ever since we started as Nakamura Chemical Laboratory, we have been fascinated by “chemistry.”
We were founded in 1938 as a dye manufacturer, but over our long history, we have transitioned away from dyes and introduced esterification technology. In 1964, we started developing NK Ester, our current main product. At the time, UV curing technology had not been widely industrialized, but we established technologies such as emulsion polymerization, suspension polymerization, solution polymerization, and esterification reactions, and have created new products such as multifunctional oligomers and reactive polymers. Now, as a company approaching its 100th anniversary, we are still challenging ourselves to create products that will pave the way to the future.
Founder Yajiro Nakamura established the Nakamura Chemical Laboratory.
Overseas demand grows, and we increase our facilities and expand our textile business.
Introduced esterification technology. Established “Shin-Nakamura Chemical Co., Ltd.”, which is in line with the times.
With the establishment of the UV market, the Fukui Factory was completed to expand the production system, and mass production of NK ester began.
The Shanghai office was opened with the aim of expanding trade from Japan to China.
Established Nantong Shin-Nakamura Chemicals as a production base in China with the aim of expanding into the global market.

Introducing a distillation facility for producing high-purity products for optical applications, an ester exchange facility for producing NK esters using a method different from the existing manufacturing method, and a small-scale plant for small-scale production of fine products.

By separating the factory and warehouse, we can respond to BCP, and by centralizing product inventory management, we can efficiently supply products to users and establish a logistics center to respond to future demand.

We established the Fukui No. 4 Factory as a BCP measure for polymer products. At the same time, we established a system to respond to the increase in demand for NK ester. We are working on various technological developments to create new value and solve further problems.
